Climate action conversation: Solutions for a sustainable future - Coffs Harbour

Do you live in a coastal village and worry about fire and flood?

Are you keen to learn how land management can be part of the climate solution?

Join us for a conversation with Lorraine Gordon, regenerative farmer and educator, Dr. Hanabeth Luke, Senior Lecturer in Regenerative Agriculture, and founding convenor of the Evans Area Resilience Network, and former independent candidate for the seat of Page, and Thomas Stanbrook, a Gumabynggirr Custodian who works in Cultural Regeneration of Country.

These events will be of interest to those concerned about fire and flood, and the role of land management and regeneration in climate solutions. The conversations will delve into the current state of play in climate resilience and land-based mitigation, as well as the implications for government policy and political representation.

Renowned regenerative farmer and educator, Lorraine Gordon, brings a wealth of expertise and understanding of preserving and enhancing our natural capital, carbon farming and climate mitigation. After seven years of groundbreaking research and education at Southern Cross University – including setting up the first regenerative agriculture degree – Lorraine has joined leading Climate Solutions Company, Climate Friendly, as Principal of Nature Capital Australia, to pursue her vision for Australian landscapes and communities.

Dr. Hanabeth Luke stood as an independent in the seat of Page, and is passionate about building resilience in rural and regional Australia.  As a researcher and educator, she focuses on reducing community and landscape vulnerability to weather extremes, increasing wellbeing and regenerative capacity through building and sharing knowledge among farmers, scientists and regional organisations. She holds several voluntary roles including Founding Convenor of the Evans area Resilience Network, and on the Marine Rescue boat.

Thomas Stanbrook is a Gumabynggirr Custodian from Nambucca Valley who works in Cultural Regeneration of Country. His respect for Country and culture, and his effectiveness as a Regeneration of Country team leader is highly valued
